Unity’s Vector organization is building the next generation of AI-powered advertising, and the Vector Ads Modeling team plays a central role in translating research into personalized ad experiences. Based in Mountain View, CA (onsite), this Staff Machine Learning Engineer position focuses on advancing ads recommendation algorithms, using both rigorous research and productionalization to meet customer needs.

The opportunity

Unity Vector represents an AI-powered ads ecosystem designed to power more relevant recommendations. As part of the Vector Ads Modeling team, you will help develop modeling roadmaps, validate new approaches at scale, and collaborate with engineering and product partners to bring research to production.

Responsibilities

Identify opportunities and shape a modeling roadmap aligned with customer needs.
Lead foundational research for new models and modeling paradigms.
Apply rich user data and large-scale compute to validate models quickly and effectively.
Work closely with engineering and product teams to productionalize research.

Requirements

Hands-on experience applying state-of-the-art machine learning and deep learning models to complex real-world problems, with emphasis on user behavior modeling.
Proficiency in Python, PyTorch, and deep learning frameworks.
Strong understanding of metric design, large-scale data analysis, and distributed computing frameworks.
Proven ability to drive projects end-to-end, addressing critical cross-team issues and delivering measurable business results.

Compensation

USD 172,200 - 283,900 per year. Gross Annual Salary is zoned as follows: Zone A: $218,400 - $283,900; Zone B: $194,100 - $252,300; Zone C: $172,200 - $223,900.

In addition to base salary, the role may be eligible for equity awards and participation in company incentive plans (such as annual discretionary bonuses or sales commissions). Final offers depend on geographic location and the candidate’s experience, background, and skills.
