Location

This role is based onsite at one of the following campuses: Aurora, Colorado; Linthicum, Maryland; or Morrisville, North Carolina.

Role Scope

The selected candidate will take ownership of challenging problems, work effectively in a team, and provide technical leadership for implementation. The Software Engineer will participate in the full software development life cycle, including requirements analysis, design and modeling, application development, unit testing, integration, system testing, release, installation, and maintenance. The role requires applying technical expertise to solve complex integration challenges and acting as a bridge between systems analysts, programmers, and end users to ensure IT designs meet user needs. Documentation of product and service requirements and the development of test procedures for user requests are involved. Strong communication skills are essential, as you will interact with Program Management and government customers. A solid foundation in bash scripting, Python, or other OOP languages within a Linux environment is required.

What You’ll Have an Opportunity to Do

• Engage in full stack development across operating system, platform, and mission-specific software layers
• Work with a tech stack that includes Go, Python, PostgreSQL, Kubernetes/Docker, AWS cloud provisioning, PKI, and static code analysis with remediation
• Be a self-starter who can make decisions with project scope and schedule in mind
• Develop software for command and control of a hardware system, including sending commands, receiving acknowledgments, and integrating across interfaces
• Build software to support activity planning and constraint checking to achieve mission outcomes
• Create software that visualizes dynamic environments in two and three dimensions, with decision tools, context awareness, and user-centric interfaces

Level Options

This position may be filled at either Associate Software Engineer Level 1 or Software Engineer Level 2.

Basic Qualifications

• Associate Software Engineer Level 1
  • Bachelor’s degree with zero years of development experience; up to four years of experience may be considered in lieu of a degree
  • Active Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility at time of application
  • Knowledge of Agile programs
  • Knowledge of design, build, and deployment of software products
  • Knowledge of producing software architecture documentation
  • Experience with Python, Go, AWS, GitLab workflows, and Docker/Kubernetes
• Software Engineer Level 2
  • Bachelor’s degree with two years of development experience; zero years with a Master’s degree; four additional years of experience may be considered in lieu of degree
  • Active Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility at time of application
  • Two years of experience with Agile programs
  • Two years of experience in the design, build, and deployment of software products
  • Two years of experience producing software architecture documentation
  • Two years of experience with Python, Go, AWS, GitLab workflows, and Docker/Kubernetes
  • Prior experience with development of microservice software architecture

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience developing satellite ground software for spacecraft missions in areas such as Command and Control, Mission Planning, Visualization, or Astrodynamics
• Experience creating planning software and constraint checking applications for complex space mission planning
• Experience building visualization tools for space missions, including dynamic renderings of space vehicles, mission depictions, sensor outputs, and contextual displays for situational awareness
• Linux, Ansible, Docker, and UI/UX experience
• Active CI polygraph

Salary and Benefits

Primary Level Salary Range: $76,200.00 - $114,400.00

Secondary Level Salary Range: $91,800.00 - $137,600.00

Base salary offers are determined based on the scope of the role, responsibilities, and the candidate’s experience, education, and skills, as well as current market conditions.

Overtime, shift differential, and discretionary bonuses may be available depending on the position. Annual bonuses reward individual contributions and allow employees to share in company results. VP or Director level roles may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
