Job Description
In this onsite role in Bentonville, AR, you will design, develop, and deliver secure, scalable, high-performance software solutions at Walmart. Working with cross-functional partners, you will help build web applications and APIs while contributing to continuous improvement across engineering practices.

Role Summary
As a Software Engineer III, you will collaborate with UX and backend teams to implement user-facing experiences and integrate systems through APIs. You will also support delivery of medium-scale initiatives, lead small to medium projects, and contribute to automation, DevOps, and resolution of critical technical debt.
Responsibilities
- Partner with UX designers to translate mockups and wireframes into functional web pages or applications.
- Build user interfaces using ReactJS, Redux, XpressJs Node, NPM, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
- Design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and improve scalable, secure, high-performance APIs, microservices, and components using Java Spring Boot and related technologies.
- Participate in medium-scale projects with cross-functional teams to convert requirements into technical solutions.
- Coordinate with backend developers to ensure seamless frontend-to-backend integration, including API integration.
- Design scalable, fault-tolerant microservices and loosely coupled services using real-time message processing.
- Deploy containerized applications using Docker and Kubernetes.
- Track, analyze, and provide guidance to help the team address Critical Tech Debts.
- Apply AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, Claude, or similar solutions to improve productivity, code quality, testing, debugging, and documentation.
- Develop and integrate Generative AI solutions, including LLM-based applications, prompt engineering, and AI-powered developer or business solutions.
- Work on RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) applications and MCP (Model Context Protocol) integrations to connect LLMs with enterprise data, tools, APIs, and external systems.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in software engineering with 2 years developing and supporting complex systems using Java or a related programming language, with strong algorithmic skills.
- 2-3 years experience with responsive frameworks and tools including HTML5, CSS, JavaScript, Material UI, React, Redux, XpressJs Node, and NPM.
- 2-3 years experience with databases, including Relational (Azure SQL Server, Postgres) and cloud storage.
- 2-3 years experience with microservices architectures, event-based architecture, and monitoring and alerting tools such as Dynatrace and Splunk.
- 1-2 years experience in RAG & MCP development.
- Integrating and customizing charts in UI components using ReactJS.
- Designing and implementing applications intended for deployment to Kubernetes and Docker.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines, deploying code through pipelines, and developing with Agile (Scrum) and Test-Driven Development (TDD).
- Experience working in a KPI-driven, highly agile environment.

- Collaborate with Global Governance units to design and deliver scalable, secure, and high-performance web applications and APIs.
- Develop fault-tolerant microservices using Java Spring Boot and Python, with containerized deployments using Docker and Kubernetes.
- Maintain software quality through rigorous code reviews and testing while resolving technical challenges efficiently.
- Deliver iteratively with focus on technical excellence and collaboration to meet business and platform goals.
- Ensure reliability, performance, and best engineering practices aligned with organizational objectives.
Minimum Qualifications
- Option 1: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 2 years of experience in software engineering or related area.
- Option 2: 4 years of experience in software engineering or related area.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Software Engineering, or related area.
- Experience creating inclusive digital experiences, including knowledge of implementing Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA, assistive technologies, and integrating digital accessibility seamlessly.
- Knowledge of accessibility best practices aligned with Walmart accessibility standards and guidelines supporting an inclusive culture.
