Senior Transmission Line Engineer 2 - Grid
Job Description
Work Arrangement and Location
This role follows a hybrid work model based in Austin, Texas. You will spend three days per week in the office, with two days available for remote work.
Responsibilities
- Design transmission lines in the 69 kV to 500 kV range.
- Perform cost analyses, develop design criteria, and plan routing and siting for transmission lines.
- Conduct conductor selection studies, shielding, grounding, and induction analyses.
- Collaborate with vendors and clients to specify transmission line components.
- Direct a small project team.
The role also provides the opportunity to:
- Work with experienced engineers and mentor less experienced staff.
- Engage with a diverse client base and coordinate with clients and other project teams.
- Travel occasionally for site visits and client meetings.
- Develop proposals and cost estimates for new work.
Qualifications
We do not sponsor employees for work authorization in the U.S. for this position.
- Degree from an ABET-accredited engineering program.
- Proficiency with PLS-CADD software to review transmission line models.
- Seven or more years of experience as a member of a project team, delivering on diverse transmission projects that include design with code requirements, cost estimation, scheduling, procurement specifications for transmission line materials, construction liaison, and coordination.
- Knowledge to verify and review right of way requirements, conductor sag and tension calculations, transmission line plan and profile drawings, and construction documents.
- Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles for producing technical plans, drawings, and models.
- Experience writing and providing support documentation for engineering calculations.
- Familiarity with design codes and standards such as NESC, IEC, CSA, IEEE, ANSI, IBC, ASCE 7, AISC, and ACI 318.
- Proficiency with MS Office applications.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Attention to detail.
Preferred qualifications
- Current PE license or ability to obtain one within one year.
- Experience developing engineering proposals and cost estimates.
- Experience with scheduling.
- Proficiency with any of the following programs: PLS-TOWER, SAG10, LPILE, MFAD, ArcGIS, CDEGS, AutoCAD, MicroStation.

Supervising engineers who program or script (for example, Python, MATLAB, or advanced Excel) to automate tasks is valued but not required. We value additional learning in areas like Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Software Engineering, or related fields to enable effective oversight of automation and agentic AI enabled engineering workflows.

Compensation
Salary range: $95,840.00 to $147,870.00. Transparency is important to us; compensation ranges align with local and state regulations. Eligible employees receive a base salary or hourly rate plus a comprehensive benefits package, reflecting our commitment to rewarding performance and wellbeing. Eligible individuals may also participate in an annual discretionary bonus.
