Senior LTE/4G/5G Software Developer

VOCAL Technologies Inc. is hiring a Senior LTE/4G/5G Software Developer for onsite work in Buffalo, NY. If you enjoy building reliable cellular software that connects real-world systems, this role focuses on architecting and optimizing LTE/4G and 5G solutions across embedded and wireless environments, with ownership that spans integration, testing, and release.

Alongside technical responsibility, the role includes tools and automation to improve testing efficiency and KPI reporting, plus collaboration with hardware and embedded teams. You will also contribute to design reviews, simulations, and validation to ensure functionality and reliability in custom hardware and software releases.

What you’ll do

• Architect, integrate, and optimize 4G LTE and 5G cellular network solutions for embedded, defense, and commercial wireless applications.
• Build custom scripts and tooling in Python, Bash, or C/C++ to streamline data collection, automated testing, and KPI performance reporting.
• Partner with hardware and embedded software teams to integrate LTE UE modules, baseband processors, and RF subsystems.
• Run continuous integration testing and verification for custom hardware and software releases.
• Lead design reviews, simulations, and validation efforts to support reliable functionality.

Requirements

• US Citizenship is required due to government contracting requirements.
• 5+ years of experience in LTE/4G/5G wireless telecommunications engineering.
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering, or a related field.

Experience noted for this role: LTE/4G/5G engineering (required), plus C/C++ or RUST proficiency (required).

Helpful skills

• Deep understanding of 3GPP protocols, LTE Core (EPC), RAN architecture, and call flow signaling.
• Experience with embedded wireless hardware bring-up or device drivers.
• Proficiency in C/C++ and/or RUST.
• Knowledge of real-time embedded systems (RTOS), Linux environments, or custom firmware development.
• Experience with private LTE networks or secure government wireless solutions.
• Hands-on experience with lab test equipment.

Compensation: $80,000 - $150,000 per year
Work location: In person (Buffalo, NY 14228). Relocation before starting work is preferred.
