Principal Machine Learning Engineer, Ads Modeling

Unity Technologies SF is building personalized advertising experiences through Unity Vector Ads Modeling, and the team is looking for a Principal Machine Learning Engineer to advance ads recommendation algorithms. This onsite role in Mountain View, CA combines research with production impact, from defining modeling roadmaps to validating new approaches using rich user data and large-scale compute.

What you’ll work on

You will help identify modeling opportunities driven by customer needs and translate them into a practical modeling roadmap. The work includes pushing forward foundational research for new models and paradigms, then validating those models efficiently with high-quality user data and substantial compute resources. You will also partner closely with engineering and product teams to take research breakthroughs and productionalize them for real-world use.

What you bring

• Hands-on experience applying state-of-the-art machine learning and deep learning to complex real-world problems, specifically user behavior modeling
• Proficiency with Python and PyTorch, plus deep learning frameworks
• Strong understanding of metric design, large-scale data analysis, and distributed computing frameworks
• Proven ability to drive projects end-to-end, resolving critical cross-team problems and delivering measurable business results

Compensation

Gross annual salary ranges by zone:

• Zone A: $250,300 - $325,400 USD
• Zone B: $222,600 - $289,400 USD
• Zone C: $197,400 - $256,600 USD
