Principal Machine Learning Engineer, Ads Modeling

Advance the next generation of AI-powered ads modeling with Unity Vector, Unity Technologies SF’s evolving machine learning ecosystem for personalized advertising experiences. In this onsite Principal Machine Learning Engineer role in New York, NY, you’ll work with a high-impact team to push ads recommendation algorithms forward by building and validating user behavior modeling approaches, then productionalizing research with engineering and product partners.

Compensation: USD 222,600 - 325,400 per year. Annual gross salary varies by zone: Zone A: $250,300 - $325,400, Zone B: $222,600 - $289,400, Zone C: $197,400 - $256,600. Beyond base salary, this role may be eligible for equity awards and participation in company incentive plans such as annual discretionary bonuses or sales commissions. Final offer depends on geographic location, relevant experience, professional background, and skill set.

The opportunity

Unity Vector represents a forward-looking evolution of Unity’s machine learning infrastructure and models. You will help deliver more personalized ads experiences by advancing research that connects user behavior to improved recommendations, supported by rich data and large-scale compute.

Responsibilities

• Identify opportunities and design a modeling roadmap that addresses customer needs.
• Drive foundational research for new models and paradigms.
• Leverage rich user data and large-scale compute to validate models rapidly.
• Collaborate closely with engineering and product teams to productionalize research.

Requirements

• Hands-on experience applying state-of-the-art machine learning and deep learning models to complex real-world problems, specifically in user behavior modeling.
• Proficiency in Python, PyTorch, and deep learning frameworks.
• Solid understanding of metric design, large-scale data analysis, and distributed computing frameworks.
• Proven ability to drive projects end-to-end, solving critical cross-team problems and delivering measurable business results.
