Junior Data Engineer

EpochGeo is seeking a Junior Data Engineer to support an automated analytics initiative in the national security space. The position is focused on delivering dependable analytics by working across the full data lifecycle, from data storage and integration to ETL pipelines and data architecture. This is an onsite role in Reston, VA, with clearance requirements tied to the work.

Role Overview

You will help build and operate the data management foundation needed for reliable, high-performance analytics. The work includes designing data architectures that align with operational requirements, developing ETL and pipeline workflows, and ensuring data can be accessed and used effectively across platforms.

Responsibilities

• Support and maintain data management systems to keep storage, access, and data usage efficient across platforms.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to design and implement data architectures aligned with operational needs.
• Design, build, and optimize data pipelines and ETL processes to enable reliable, high-performance data processing and access.
• Evaluate and select database and processing technologies (including SQL, NoSQL, and HPC) based on data and query requirements.
• Ensure effective data integration across systems to support analysis and decision-making.

Qualifications

• 1+ years of relevant experience in data engineering or a similar field.
• Proficiency with Python, SQL, and Apache Airflow (or similar).
• Experience designing and implementing data architectures and data management systems.
• Familiarity with database technologies, including SQL, NoSQL, HPC, and experience selecting/configuring technologies to optimize data systems.
• Experience building and maintaining ETL processes and data pipeline management.
• Experience optimizing data throughput, query performance, and system responsiveness for complex queries and analysis.
• Experience problem-solving and collaborating with data users and other stakeholders.
• Must hold a TS/SCI clearance and be willing to submit for a CI Poly.
• Reston, VA 20191 is required, including relocating before starting work.

Compensation and Schedule

• Job type: Full-time
• Pay: USD 125,000 - 135,000 per year
