Job Description

Based in New York, NY with a hybrid work arrangement, the GIS Developer will design, build, deploy, and maintain enterprise-grade geospatial applications and services for FDNY, leveraging Esri ArcGIS, web frameworks, and geospatial automation.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and sustain enterprise GIS applications and services.
  • Build and deploy interactive web maps using the ArcGIS Maps SDK for JavaScript.
  • Create backend services and APIs with Java and Spring Boot.
  • Configure, administer, and optimize ArcGIS Enterprise deployments.
  • Develop advanced geoprocessing and automation tools with Python.
  • Craft and optimize complex spatial queries and database operations.
  • Integrate GIS solutions with enterprise systems and third‑party applications.
  • Build custom GIS widgets, workflows, and user interfaces.
  • Troubleshoot application, performance, and data related issues.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders, GIS analysts, and technical teams to deliver geospatial solutions.
  • Support deployment, testing, and production release activities.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of professional software development experience with a focus on GIS applications.
  • Experience with ArcGIS Enterprise, including Portal for ArcGIS, ArcGIS Server, ArcGIS GeoEvent Server, and ArcGIS Data Store.
  • Experience developing and deploying applications using ArcGIS Maps SDK for JavaScript, Java, and Spring Boot.
  • Advanced proficiency in Python scripting for geoprocessing, automation, and GIS workflows.
  • Strong SQL skills with experience writing complex spatial queries, spatial joins, and database performance optimization.
  • Experience with REST APIs, web services, and enterprise application integration.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
