Digital Content Specialist/Developer
Job Description
The Digital Content Specialist/Developer role at the United Federation of Teachers focuses on creating and managing digital communications, including emails, forms, and SMS alerts, and updating the union’s website as part of the digital communications team.
Responsibilities
- Draft, edit, design, and distribute event invitations, information updates, and newsletters using Salesforce Marketing Cloud to targeted UFT member lists.
- Develop and monitor online registration forms and member surveys, ensuring alignment with UFT messaging and style guidelines.
- Create and maintain email templates.
- Collaborate with UFT staff to update the union’s website.
- Serve as a communications liaison for the union’s borough offices, departments, and chapters.
- Compose and schedule SMS alerts for targeted UFT member groups.
- Perform other communications tasks as directed by the department director.
Requirements
- Hands-on experience designing and building templates and executing digital marketing campaigns on Salesforce Marketing Cloud or a comparable platform.
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Minimum of 1 year of professional experience in a related role.
- Strong writing ability with advanced editing skills.
- Proficiency with CRMs and member-management tools, with a willingness to learn new software to advance the union’s mission.
- Ability to craft clear, compelling emails and newsletters, sometimes working with drafts from staff in other departments.
- Strong organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent interpersonal skills to coordinate with staff across multiple departments.
- Proven ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple assignments.
- Ability to collaborate effectively as part of the digital communications team.
- Knowledge of or interest in education policy and the labor movement.
- On-call availability for some evenings and weekends to send urgent emails.
