Job Description

Databricks Data Engineer on Deloitte's Core AI & Data team, onsite in Charlotte, NC. The role centers on designing, building, and optimizing cloud-first data engineering solutions that leverage Databricks, Apache Spark, Python, and SQL to enable large-scale transformation and analytics.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement data pipelines and engineering solutions using Databricks, Apache Spark, Python, and SQL.
  • Contribute to modernizing enterprise data platforms by deploying cloud-based ingestion, transformation, and storage patterns.
  • Create and manage both batch and streaming data workflows that support reporting, analytics, and AI initiatives.
  • Apply data architecture, integration, and modeling practices to enhance data quality, scalability, and platform performance.
  • Collaborate with client teams and Deloitte colleagues to troubleshoot issues, implement enhancements, and support large-scale data transformation programs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, Data Science, Mathematics, or Statistics.
  • At least 3 years of experience in data engineering, ETL development, or data platform engineering.
  • At least 2 years of experience building data pipelines in Databricks using Apache Spark, Python, and SQL.
  • Experience implementing data models, data integration patterns, and cloud-based data processing workflows.
  • Experience with at least one cloud platform: AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
  • Ability to travel up to 50 percent on average based on client engagements.
  • Limited immigration sponsorship may be available.
  • Experience with Delta Lake, Databricks Workflows, and Unity Catalog.
  • Proficiency with Git-based version control and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Experience supporting both batch and streaming data workloads.
  • Background in data warehousing, lakehouse architecture, and performance optimization.
  • Experience supporting analytics or machine learning data pipelines.
  • Experience working in a consulting or client service delivery environment.

Compensation

Salary range: USD 86,700 - 170,900 per year.

The wage range for this role reflects a broad set of factors including skills, experience, training, licensure, and other business needs. The disclosed range has not been adjusted for geographic differences associated with the location where the role may be filled.
