Data Engineer, Product Analytics
Job Description
Meta is seeking a Data Engineer for Product Analytics to help shape scalable data ecosystems and compelling visualizations that guide product decisions across billions of users. This role collaborates closely with engineers, data scientists, and product managers to design data solutions that influence growth, strategy, and user experience.
Responsibilities
- Own the data architecture strategy for multiple large-scale initiatives, weighing design choices against cost and operational impact.
- Develop and contribute to logging data frameworks, partnering with data infrastructure to triage and resolve issues.
- Collaborate with engineers, product managers, and data scientists to identify data needs and present key insights in meaningful ways.
- Define and manage SLAs for data sets within your ownership.
- Establish and enforce security models based on privacy requirements; ensure safeguards, address data quality issues, and evolve governance within your domains.
- Design, build, and deploy sophisticated data models and visualizations that support multiple use cases across products or domains.
- Tackle advanced data integration challenges using robust ETL patterns, frameworks, and query techniques across structured and unstructured sources.
- Assist in owning production processes, optimizing complex code through advanced algorithmic concepts.
- Improve pipelines, dashboards, frameworks, and systems to streamline the development of data artifacts.
- Influence product and cross-functional teams to identify data opportunities that drive impact.
- Mentor team members by giving and receiving actionable feedback.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- At least four years of experience in roles focused on data, such as data analyst, data scientist, data engineer, or similar.
- Four or more years of experience with SQL, ETL, data modeling, and proficiency in at least one programming language (Python, C++, C#, Scala, etc.).

Preferred Qualifications
- Master's or PhD degree in a STEM field.
- Proven ability to integrate AI tools to optimize workflows and drive measurable impact.
- Experience applying responsible, ethical AI practices, including risk assessment, bias mitigation, and quality/accuracy reviews.
- Continued AI skill development such as prompt engineering and agent orchestration, staying current with emerging AI technologies.
