Data Engineer III - Python/PySpark/Databricks/AI
Job Description
Data Engineer III role supporting an agile team delivering trusted data collection, storage, access, and analytics solutions in an on-site environment.
Responsibilities
- Support review of controls to help ensure sufficient protection of enterprise data
- Advise and implement custom configuration changes in one to two tools to deliver requested products for business or customer needs
- Update logical and/or physical data models when new use cases emerge
- Use SQL regularly and apply knowledge of NoSQL databases and their fit in the marketplace
- Use enterprise-authorized AI capabilities within the work environment to accelerate data pipeline and design analysis, including documentation support, while validating outputs
- Handle data according to sensitivity and security requirements when using AI capabilities
- Apply reuse-first, AI-assisted practices to improve SDLC-quality routines for data pipelines, such as test generation and control validation
- Maintain traceability and auditability, aligned to expected resiliency and security practices
Requirements
- Formal training or certification in data engineering concepts
- 3+ years of applied experience in data engineering
- Experience across the data lifecycle
- Advanced SQL, including joins and aggregations
- Working understanding of NoSQL databases
- Demonstrated experience using enterprise-authorized AI capabilities to support data engineering workflows with strong validation habits and data sensitivity awareness
- Ability to review and validate AI-assisted outputs (such as query suggestions, test ideas, or model change summaries) before use
- Escalate when uncertain and follow required data handling requirements
- Significant experience with statistical data analysis, including selecting appropriate tools and data patterns for analysis
- Experience customizing changes in a tool to generate a product
