Data Engineer I
Job Description
Redstone Federal Credit Union is seeking a Data Engineer I to build, manage, and continuously enhance the data foundation that supports data products across the organization. This role blends engineering ownership with collaboration, helping teams deliver reliable data by improving architecture, pipelines, and the data warehouse, while supporting areas like data models, metadata management, ETL/ELT infrastructure, data quality, and disaster recovery.
What you’ll do
- Build, maintain, and improve the enterprise data warehouse.
- Monitor and improve warehouse performance, implement patches and upgrades, minimize database downtime, and manage parameters to support fast query responses.
- Collaborate with data analysts, data scientists, and software engineers to build, maintain, and improve data models.
- Support the establishment, maintenance, and improvement of metadata management tools and processes.
- Build, maintain, and improve ETL/ELT infrastructure for ingestion from a wide variety of data sources.
- Create and maintain pipeline architecture to support scalable, dependable data movement.
- Assemble large, complex data sets that satisfy functional and non-functional business requirements.
- Assist with data quality standards and implement tools and processes to improve accuracy, completeness, reliability, relevance, and timeliness.
- Assist with developing and implementing disaster recovery plans and processes to protect the integrity and availability of enterprise databases and data pipelines.
- Complete required training programs to maintain current knowledge applicable to assigned duties, including regulatory compliance requirements.
What you bring
- At least 2 years of experience in relevant data engineering work.
- Experience with ETL/ELT tools such as SSIS.
- Experience profiling data, including with and without data definition documentation.
- Data modeling experience, with emphasis on dimensional modeling.
- Ability to learn and apply information about a range of Credit Union products, services, and regulatory compliance requirements to assess member situations and help develop solutions.
- Professional communication skills, including active listening, clear information delivery, and appropriate tact and diplomacy in sensitive and confidential situations.
- Ability to lead and model RISE values and the Code of Ethics through daily interactions and conduct.
- Provide guidance in resolving complex problems using advanced knowledge within areas of responsibility.
- Correct English usage, including spelling, grammar, and punctuation.
- Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions.
- Strong analytical aptitude with a driving curiosity to identify, formulate, and solve problems.
- Ability to set priorities and manage time effectively.

Location and work environment
Remote (remote) is available, with a typical technology office environment. Remote work is considered.
