Avionics Software Engineer III
Job Description
The Avionics Software Engineer III role focuses on software integration and verification for embedded avionic engine and flight control systems, with emphasis on requirements-based testing and DO-178C traceability in lab and simulation environments. This onsite position is based in Endicott, NY, offering a salary range of USD 73,000 to 105,000 per year. A Bachelor's degree or equivalent and at least three years of related experience are required.
Responsibilities
- Provide Systems Engineering expertise in software integration and verification for embedded avionic engine and flight control subsystems.
- Collaborate within a team environment with on-site and near-site engagement opportunities.
- Utilize test environment tools such as VectorCAST and Green Hills (or equivalent) for verification tasks.
- Develop software in C or customer-specific scripts and execute it within lab-based test simulations.
- Experience with hardware integration and debugging is preferred.
- Integrate software emulators and debugging tools to control the system at the lowest operational level.
- Create formal requirements-based test procedures.
- Document requirements, test procedures, and results in the configuration management system and establish DO-178C traceability using DOORS.
- Conduct a mix of requirements reviews, software development, simulation testing, and system-level testing in an avionic lab environment.
Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree or equivalent with at least three years of related experience.
- Proficiency in C, Linux shell scripts, or related software test scripting.
- Experience with formal requirements and developing software test cases and procedures.
- Experience debugging hardware and software in embedded control systems.
- Strong verbal communication skills suitable for teleconferences with suppliers, clients, and colleagues.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively in team settings.
- Eligibility to obtain and maintain a U.S. Secret Security Clearance; candidates must be U.S. citizens.
