American Systems is seeking a Staff Principal Software Engineer/Developer in support of trainer development for DoD customers, using simulation technologies to improve training effectiveness. This onsite role in Plano, TX focuses on SAR/ISAR content generation, geospatial visualization, radar simulation analysis, and engineering support to address performance and defects across the simulation stack.
You will collaborate with DoD stakeholders and technical teams to plan and execute simulation-based trainer capabilities, leveraging specialized radar simulation tools and image generation workflows. The work includes maintaining expert understanding of SAR and ISAR imagery production, ensuring correct handling of geospatial data, and contributing to integration efforts that improve system reliability for customer training objectives.
Responsibilities
- Partner with DoD Civilians, USN Fleet Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), industry, and other contractors to plan and execute trainer development using simulation technologies.
- Maintain expert-level capability for generating Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) and Inverse Synthetic Aperture Radar (ISAR) imagery using Boeing Multi-Mode Radar Simulation (MMRS) alongside Aechelon Image Generators (IG).
- Ensure geospatial raster and vector data are correctly handled by a map server so system operators can accurately view geospatial visuals and behavior.
- Perform analysis, diagnostics, and preliminary evaluations of RADAR simulation applications to support customer training efforts.
- Support integration activities to identify and resolve performance issues, enhancements, and defects across simulation capabilities.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree and 13+ years of related work experience.
- US Citizenship and a minimum of a current TOP SECRET clearance.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Expert-level experience in at least three of the following: Next Generation Threat System (NGTS), SAR/ISAR, Boeing MMRS, Aechelon IG.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and communicate clearly.
