VB.NET / SQL Server Developer & CI/CD Engineer

ACCEL Compliance, LLC is seeking a senior contractor to support the GreenLight Tax platform, a production tax compliance system used in the insurance industry. The role blends VB.NET and SQL Server development with DevOps and AWS infrastructure automation, focusing on building automated build and deployment pipelines while maintaining and modernizing the existing stack. This capability is based in West Hartford, CT with a hybrid work arrangement.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and enhance the GreenLight Tax application built on VB.NET within the .NET Framework, ensuring reliable tax processing and compliance workflows.
• Improve application logic to support tax processing and compliance workflows, and refactor portions of the codebase where appropriate.
• Diagnose and resolve production issues across the application and database layers, while optimizing Microsoft SQL Server databases that support the platform.
• Design and improve stored procedures, complex T-SQL queries, data structures, and indexing strategies; troubleshoot performance issues and inefficiencies in queries.
• Maintain data integrity, transactional safety, and auditability; implement and manage integrations using XML-based data exchange and SOAP web services with external systems and regulatory partners.
• Design and implement automated build pipelines triggered by GitHub commits and convert existing manual builds performed with VS Code into automated workflows, ensuring build reproducibility and artifact generation.
• Implement automated deployment pipelines capable of promoting builds to QA, Staging, and Production environments; design repeatable deployment processes, rollback, and deployment validation procedures.
• Develop automated processes to clone production databases and provision copies of production data for non-production environments; deploy and configure databases on target servers with secure handling of sensitive data.
• Work with AWS infrastructure including VPC, EC2, RDS, and related networking and security groups; participate in environment provisioning and configuration.

Requirements

• Strong VB.NET development experience.
• Deep Microsoft SQL Server expertise, including T-SQL, stored procedures, and performance tuning.
• Experience with XML and SOAP-based integrations.
• Experience implementing CI/CD pipelines and automating build and deployment workflows.
• Experience working with AWS infrastructure (VPC, EC2, RDS).
