Product Data Engineer Technician III
Job Description
Mouser Electronics is seeking a Product Data Engineer Technician III to help build and maintain accurate product technical data that customers rely on for sourcing. In an onsite role in Mansfield, TX, you will conduct technical data research, normalize information into consistent formats, and act as a subject matter expert (SME) within established product areas.
This position focuses on classification and attribution of product data through Mouser’s Product Information Management (PIM) environment and supporting data quality tools, alongside ongoing process improvements related to component documentation and lifecycle tracking.
What you’ll do
- Conduct technical data research, assessment, and acquisition using the internet, supplier websites, search engines, spreadsheets, and internal databases
- Normalize collected data into a consistent format governed by Tech Data established procedures
- Coordinate and manage the classification, collection, implementation, and maintenance of product technical data using the Product Information Management (PIM) system and Data Quality Analyst tools
- Plan, develop, and manage hierarchies for assigned product categories based on product type and/or technology through technical processes
- Ensure the collected data remains relevant for product sourcing across all regions worldwide
- Build Product Data acumen and apply it to each classification and attribution task
- Develop familiarity with the classification hierarchy so that misclassified products can be identified and reclassified into the correct template
- Evaluate template attributes for alignment with the template taxonomy and recommend changes that benefit customers
- Review how data is presented on Mouser.com and recommend normalization, sorting, and parametric attribute order improvements to enhance product sourcing
- Maintain open and timely communications with stakeholders and teams, using strong organizational skills to document, categorize, prioritize, and keep information accessible
- Represent the company professionally with internal and external customers
- Contribute to process improvements, initiate change, and embrace new technologies
- Serve as an SME within established product areas and make strong functional contributions to process solutions
- Interface professionally with business contacts and represent Mouser
- Stay aware of emerging electronic component technologies and identify business terms and parametric definitions/values across a wide range of components
- Use solid knowledge of component PCN and Life Cycle to support ongoing data maintenance
Required skills and experience
- 4+ years of Electronic Component experience required (for internal candidates, experience may be a combination of internal and external experience)
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or a relevant discipline; in lieu of a degree, 6 years of relevant work experience is desired, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities
- Familiarity working with cross-functional teams
- Strong organizational skills and ability to work independently or collaboratively with a positive, professional attitude
- Ability to set and track goals, use sound judgment to identify issues, and escalate when appropriate
- Capacity to research data for long periods and read/analyze technical documentation, including technical data sheets, product guides, scientific and technical journals, and related engineering documents
- Detail-oriented work habits with multi-tasking ability
- Analytical, technical, problem-solving, and organizational skills, with the ability to operate with minimum supervision
