Job Description
Capital One offers an on-site opportunity in McLean, VA for a Lead Machine Learning Engineer. The role features a competitive annual base salary in the range of USD 197,300 to 225,100, plus performance-based incentives and potential long-term incentives. Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and deploy ML models and components that address real business needs, collaborating with Product and Data Science teams.
- Guide ML infrastructure decisions by applying modeling techniques, including model selection, data and feature choices, training, hyperparameter tuning, dimensionality, bias and variance considerations, and validation.
- Tackle complex problems by writing and testing application code, building and validating ML models, and automating tests and deployment processes.
- Work within a cross-functional Agile team to build software that powers advanced big data and ML applications.
- Retrain, maintain, and monitor models in production environments.
- Leverage or construct cloud-based architectures and platforms to deliver optimized ML models at scale.
- Create optimized data pipelines to feed ML models.
- Apply continuous integration and continuous deployment practices, including test automation and monitoring, to ensure reliable deployment of models and code.
- Manage code quality to minimize vulnerabilities and ensure governance, with adherence to Responsible and Explainable AI principles.
- Proficient in programming with Python, Scala, or Java.

Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Minimum six years of experience designing and building data-intensive solutions using distributed computing (internship experience does not apply)
- Minimum four years of experience programming with Python, Scala, or Java
- At least two years of experience building, scaling, and optimizing ML systems
